Maharishi’s Offer to the World
Over 70 years ago His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced Transcendental Meditation (TM) to the world. Many times he emphasized the need to establish world peace in this generation. To achieve that goal Maharishi offered Vedic Technologies of Consciousness that can reverse negative trends and promote societal well-being.
In 1987 Maharishi stated:
“World peace on a permanent basis is the requirement of the time.
It is the requirement of life.”
The Maharishi Effect
- The prediction: In 1960, Maharishi predicted that only 1% of the population meditating would be enough to eliminate hatred and war.
- The discovery: The term “Maharishi Effect” was coined later, after scientific research conducted in 1974 and published in 1976 indicated that a 1% threshold of a city’s population practicing Transcendental Meditation led to a significant drop in crime rates.
- The extended effect: Based on physics, the concept was later extended to include a new formula: the square root of 1% of the population practicing the advanced TM-Sidhi program together in one place is sufficient to create a powerful effect of coherence and positivity throughout the population. This was called the Super-Radiance effect.

Our History:
The Founders of World Peace was formed under the auspices of the Maharishi Vedic Science and Technology Foundation (MVSTF) in April 2022. Initially we funded yagyas—special Vedic performances—to reduce war and violence in specific trouble spots in the world. However, as the yagya program grew in size and power, something more happened. Different organizations emerged that desired to form large coherence-creating groups practicing the TM and TM-Sidhi program—exactly what Maharishi envisioned many years ago. Rather than trying to resolve specific conflicts, we Founders then pivoted to supporting the establishment of multiple large Super-Radiance groups and re-set our goal to achieving permanent world peace.
Today's Situation:
The current world population is 8.142 billion. The square root of 1% of that number is approximately 9000. To establish permanent world peace and also provide an ample safety margin, the Founders of World Peace want to create and sustain multiple coherence-creating groups of at least 10,000 Sidhas per group.
Our Progress To Date:
We’ve achieved exciting progress toward this objective! FWP members have so far contributed over $6 million that is currently funding the development of 6 coherence-creating groups—5 in India, 1 in Mexico. We have chosen to support these 6 groups because each has the potential to reach 10,000 by the end of 2025.

David Lynch
David Lynch, the internationally renowned film director who recently passed away, was a long-time TM and TM-Sidhi practitioner and an early enthusiastic member of the Founders of World Peace.
David deeply desired peace for the world and commented:
“We all know if we don’t do this the world is in big trouble. As Maharishi said, this is the program that brings peace—nothing else will do it. Let’s keep our attention on this being a huge success and make it happen. We just look forward to a great big beautiful world at peace.”
